Special Classes
Beside the infantry and cavalry, the game offers a range of specialty classes to aid the troops with cannon, fortification, and leadership. The specialty classes take some getting-used-to, but are invaluable during the course of the game.
Artillery Classes
There are three artillery classes available under the special units tab in Mount&Blade: Napoleonic Wars. These include the ranker (who is equipped to load and fire any cannon), the artillery officer (who is equipped with a spyglass) and the gun carriage (which can limber or unlimber artillery pieces).
Rocket Infantry
Rocket infantry are exclusive to the British. Rocket infantry come equipped with rockets and can place them on any rocket-holder tripod in order to fire them. The process is similar to reloading cannons except that it only requires the rocket holder to place the rocket on the tripod and then take control of it in order to fire. It can be a little bit tricky trying to load a rocket onto the tripod. You will have to stand alongside the tripod and look up at the front section until you see a text box that says place rocket. Be warned: rockets are extremely inaccurate and it is generally ill advised to fire one from behind friendly lines unless you're confident the rockets trajectory will pass over friendly heads.
Sapper/Pioneer/Engineer
These manly apron-sporting men are responsible mainly for building defensive fortifications and demolitions on the battlefield. If you need a bridge blown by them or a vital chokepoint blocked off with cover you call the Sapper. They are good for leading a charge into enemy fortifications as their axe can break down doors and clear away sandbags and other defences in seconds. The hammer and shovel are used to build up said defences depending on the build points allotted to you. Be aware; these guys will have caps of four or six on most servers.
Generals
Wellington, Napoleon, Blücher, Kutuzov and Schwarzenberg are your nation’s generals and there is only one. Generals now have the special ability of buffing everyone in their presence with a 5% bonus to any applied buffs and should always be behind the main assault or with the reserve and cannons giving them that defensive edge. Armed with a heavy healthy horse and a lethal Officer sword to help them if the enemy gets too close, a General shouldn't be squandered or used lightly if you play him. Generals have no facial structure just a unique uniform and facial accessories/hat which your avatar dons when they get the slot.
